Quite the humiliating experience at the temple today. I paid for an introductory class that was supposed to be 90 minutes long. I thought it was odd that last week we were dismissed after only 45 minutes. We learned how to sit in full lotus and about the 3 Stones: Peace of mind, contentment and gratitude. Then we were sent home. Ok cool. Day 2, the guy didn’t recognize me, he kept asking me over and over again if I had registered and if I had paid. “Of course I paid,” I reassured him pulling out my cellphone to show him a copy of my receipt. “And who’s this?” He asked pointing to my little girl. “This is my daughter. Remember, I asked you over the phone if there was an age restriction and you said, “no. As long as she can be quiet.” The guy did not remember. He said that I could come in but not my daughter. “Sir, she’s twelve. I can’t leave her,” I pleaded. “She has to pay,” this guy was serious. She’s not here to take class. She’ll wait for me in the waiting area and she’ll be quiet.” She can’t stay because I didn’t know you were bringing her.” Ok... “no problem, I shrugged as the man proceeded to ask for forgiveness and Kick us out but not before giving us full refund.
One of my favorite places to go to feel relaxed and renewed.
Wonderful Zen Temple in the middle of NYC. Sunim is very helpful to the newbies, wonderful and deep meditations .
