The April 15 review by Blythe seems very unfair to me. If the Tri Kappa-Zeta Iota Chapter had ten years of success in working with Joan Carney, owner of Lilly's Boutique, it seems very unlikely that Ms. Carney would suddenly turn out to be "a fraud, an impossible woman to deal with, and concerned only with herself and her bottom line..." Concern with the bottom line is how business people stay in business and provide both services and jobs, especially in tough economic times, which are tough for them as well. A business has to be able to cover its costs, which would include transporting the items for sale, paying for staff time at the sale, preparation time, cleanup and restocking time, and the time to seek out and order the items in the first place, all of which are done from a place of business that has its own costs. I have to say that my mother and I think that a trip to Lilly's is such a treat, that we are willing to drive 2 hours about once a year from where we live in Illinois. We get helpful, honest service, and good suggestions as to what might work for our body types and the needs we express. The clothes are interesting. And, when we choose well, we have items we wear a great deal, for many years. So the cost per wear goes way down.
