The definition of complacency. You can tell from the spacious, “luxurious” (tacky) interior and the age of people that frequent the place, that this place is still living in its past glory. Food is okay, though really heavy with garlic. There are other spices you can use to flavor broth! The most disappointing part is the service. When the staff cooks for you, you would want experienced “ajumas” that have been there forever. Here, all the staff look like they’re caught in headlights. Slow, inefficient, and they’re not even very nice to you. Not worth the trip.

A korean restaurant that serves roasted duck and other variety of hotpot dishes. Portions are relatively small and their prices are little steep. But their food taste great and servers are super nice. My party ordered duck, gooksu jeongol (noodle hotpot), and gopchang jeongol (cow stomach hotpot). Atmosphere is more formal than casual.
Great food and would go with other dishes well
Service was the worst ever I experienced. It seemed to me that servers were not trained properly. I asked a server to call the manager to stop by my table, but I was told that he could not come to see me because he was so busy. Unbelievable!!! I will never go back to this restaurant again.
Shinjeong has been in business for a very long time. They used to be located in the heart of the city, but as Seoul expanded, they chose Gangnam for their new home. They specialize in Genghis Khan (aka shabu-shabu or hotpot or suki) cuisine. They also serve beef (grill cooked) and duck (roasted). Has been a favorite restaurant among Korean businessmen to treat their foreign (mostly japanese) guests back in the day. Shinjeong has evolved with the years and now have more 'rooms' for private dining suited for business dinners as well as family gatherings. Shinjeong has never been a 'cheap' place and their prices are somewhat on the pricey side. Service has always been better than most, and the food has never disappointed. As I mentioned, it still is a sure place to entertain business guests but be sure to bring your corporate card.
Food was ok, the restaurant interior is a little boring.
