Delicious food and the entire setup is so beautiful. You feel like you are back in the old traditional Kyoto.

Wanted to top off my Kyoto visit with a Kaiseki lunch and opted for the 7-course. The location may be a bit hard to find (google maps is accurate), was lucky enough to run into Mr. Nanba in the alleyway and he guided me in. For the meal itself, excellent variety throughout with good texture, flavour, and presentation. As a warning to some, these flavours are more delicate so it may not be for everyone. It was a good experience sitting at the counter, and overall service was very good.
My first Kaiseki experience (can't comment on how it fares compared to other kaiseki restaurants in Kyoto). Ordered the 15,000yen set. The best food I ever had. Personally recommend getting the best food you can afford as they would cost at least double elsewhere. The restaurant is located in a small alley, a bit hard to find.
Delicious food. Comfortable small restaurant. Polite staff who tried very best to introduce the dishes.
Very disappointing!! We were served a traditional 8 course meal with all the Japanese serving manners and politeness - but it just wasn’t tasty at all! The tastes just didn’t connect and there was no harmony. During our stay we were served much better meal in other places but occasion and for much better prices. I do not eat meat or seafood and we did let them know that in advance. But still they served us squids and we returned them. Then they served the same kind of fish (which was not tasty at all) for 3 courses in a row. The plates were nicely decorated and all the ceremony around the food was nice, but still when at the end there was not even one single dish to write home about - it is for sure not worth the money paid for.
